Born Sept 10, 2024 G3 Colorado Mountain Dog litter out of MGF Iris by UUU Mobius of MGF. Ready to go Dec 2, 2024.
What is a Colorado Mountain Dog (CMD) and why are they so important to our family and farmstead? I'm glad you asked. :) Shepherds have used Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGD's) for thousands of years to keep them company and help protect their flocks from predation. Different climates, terrain, types of predators, and availability of dogs all played a role in developing the LGD breeds in existence today. As farms, ranches and homesteads evolve, so do our needs in working dogs. Our farmstead is best assisted by dogs that are friendly with our welcome visitors and neighbors rather than defaulting to aggression toward unknown humans. Close neighbors also indicate a need for a little more discernment in the barking department. Since we farm on small acreage (as more and more people are doing these days) we do not need the frontline dogs who chase predators for miles, but prefer the close in and moderate perimeter guarding styles. So we selectively breed for our current and future need's, building on the established foundations.
CMDR Pup (Spay/neuter contract)
